Ocean Friendly Gardens Workshop

Surfrider is back at West Basin’s Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility for a planting workday, on September 19th. Learn how to prepare a site for, and successfully plant, South Bay native plants, even in the heat of September. The day begins at 10:00 am with a brief discussion of techniques for amending degraded urban soils and continues in the garden with the supervised planting of an entirely native OFG. The plant palette includes four local plant communities, and the experience will provide you with the confidence to plan and plant your native garden at home. Planting should be completed by 3:00 pm. Wear sturdy clothing and bring sun protection, water and a lunch. RSVP with So Cal OFG Program Coordinator, Paul Herzog: pherzog@surfrider.org, 310-439-2500.
