Offshore Drilling Community Forum

You’re invited to join the Surfrider Foundation and Environment California to learn more about the threat of offshore oil drilling and why it’s not the answer! We are hosting community meetings around the state of California to discuss the threat of offshore oil drilling and what can be done to safeguard local communities.
For decades, our coasts were protected from offshore oil drilling, but in 2008 the Bush Administration and Congress allowed a ban on oil drilling to expire. Now, decision makers at the state and federal level are examining ways to open up our coasts to offshore oil drilling.
To make matters worse, Assemblymember Chuck DeVore (R- Irvine) is trying to introduce dangerous legislation that would put California’s precious coastline in harms way. His “proposed plan” would consider bids for new oil leases within California’s waters (within 3 miles of the coast). We can’t allow this to happen! Don’t miss your opportunity to attend our community forum and learn what is being done to keep oil rigs at bay.
